PERSONAL OPINION ABOUT BIA-ALCL

The 1st World Conference on BIA-ALCL will be held in Rome on 6th Oct 2019. In my opinion this entity is the most important clinical problem, waiting for certified aetiology and prevention. I would have taken part at conference, but my duties hindering me. There are more hypothesis about its origin. I presuppose that this disease can be multifactorial. All factor have to be present at same time (e.g. patient immunological features, subclinical infection and implant’s surface type). There can be yet unknown risk factors too. When we shall have much more data we shall be able to determine what kind of implants are most trouble-free. Yes, there is significant difference between implants. We must up-to-date our knowledge and practice in order to achieve highest patient safety. I looking forward to learn more about it.
